KATHMANDU: Seven commercial banks in Nepal have released their fourth-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2081/82, revealing significant improvement in profitability and key financial indicators. As of Monday, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Kumari Bank, Siddhartha Bank, Agriculture Development Bank, Citizens Bank, Everest Bank, and Sanima Bank have published their statements, showing dividend payout capacities ranging from 5.25% to 38.27%.
Everest Bank leads with the highest dividend capacity at 38.27%, followed by Sanima Bank at 20.47%, Agriculture Development Bank at 18.42%, Machhapuchchhre Bank at 15.7%, Siddhartha Bank at 13.22%, and Citizens Bank at 5.25%. Kumari Bank reported a negative distributable profit.
Bank-wise Performance Overview:
Machhapuchchhre Bank
The bank posted a net profit of NPR 201 million, a 92.45% increase compared to the previous year. Interest income rose 15.41% to NPR 575 million, while provisioning decreased significantly from NPR 139 million to NPR 35.37 million. Earnings per share (EPS) stood at NPR 17.31.
Kumari Bank
Kumari Bank’s profit surged to NPR 211 million, nearly 400 times higher than last year’s NPR 4.6 million. Provisioning declined from NPR 600 million to NPR 200 million, and interest income increased 7% to NPR 1.155 billion. However, distributable profit remained negative at NPR 279 million.
Siddhartha Bank
The bank reported a 10.24% profit growth to NPR 339 million. Distributable profit soared 220% to NPR 186 million. Interest income increased 6.43% to NPR 844 million, with an EPS of NPR 24.01. After setting aside NPR 146 million for debenture redemption reserve, the bank is positioned to distribute dividends up to 13.22%, compared to just NPR 58 million distributable profit last year.
Agriculture Development Bank
The bank recorded a 44% profit increase, earning NPR 415 million. Provisions sharply dropped from NPR 215 million to NPR 10 million. However, interest income decreased 7% to NPR 982 million. EPS stood at NPR 27.06.
Citizens Bank
Profit declined by 2% to NPR 129 million, while provisioning rose from NPR 172 million to NPR 267 million. Interest income grew by approximately 12% to NPR 636 million. EPS was NPR 8.76.
Everest Bank
Everest Bank posted nearly NPR 500 million in net profit, marking a 32.8% increase. Net interest income rose 19.36% to NPR 912 million. Operating profit also increased by 31.63% to NPR 745 million. The bank demonstrated the capacity to distribute dividends up to 38.27%.
Sanima Bank
Sanima Bank’s net profit reached NPR 257 million, a 7.24% rise. Interest income increased 2.81% to NPR 635 million. Distributable profit jumped 92.13% to NPR 278 million. Non-performing loans remained at 1.21%. EPS and net worth per share were NPR 18.93 and NPR 168.83, respectively.
