KATHMANDU: Sharad Ojha, Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority who was recently dismissed by the government, returned to office on Tuesday after the Supreme Court issued an interim order preventing the government’s decision from being enforced.
Speaking to Fiscal Nepal after resuming office, Ojha said, “I have reported back to the Insurance Authority following the Supreme Court’s order in my favor. Regular administrative work will now move forward as usual.”
On September 8 (Bhadra 23), a single bench of Justice Sharanga Subedi had ordered the government not to immediately implement its decision to remove Ojha from the post. The court also halted the process of appointing a new chairman until further notice.
The government had dismissed Ojha only four months into his tenure, citing weak performance. However, Ojha challenged the decision by filing a writ petition at the Supreme Court last Sunday.
