Now revenue payments can be made using MasterCard, Visa Card, and Alipay

Kathmandu : It will now be easier for Nepalis living abroad and tourists visiting Nepal to pay government revenue.

In a bid to make payments paperless, cashless, and contactless — while also ensuring transparency — the government has enabled revenue payments through international cards as well.

The Office of the Auditor General has integrated the international payment system into the Revenue Management Information System.

Following the joint inauguration of the system’s interconnectivity service by Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal and Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal, payment processes have now become more convenient, according to Deepak Lamichhane, spokesperson for the Office of the Auditor General.

According to him, with this integration, the revenue payment process will help make service delivery paperless for clients abroad and tourists visiting Nepal. Similarly, it will eliminate the need for physical presence and ensure 24/7 service availability.

Initially, this service has been launched in the Department of Immigration. People can now pay visa fees using MasterCard, Visa Card, and Alipay. Fees required for services abroad and any charges that tourists may need to pay at the airport can now be settled by card.

The government believes that this will enable faster revenue collection, greater transparency, international accessibility, and user-friendly service, thereby contributing to the promotion of the digital economy.
