KATHMANDU: Golyan Group, one of Nepal’s leading business conglomerates, has announced a leadership transition with 37-year-old Akshay Golyan appointed as Chairman. The decision was made public through a press statement issued on Friday on the occasion of the group’s anniversary.
Akshay Golyan, who has served as Managing Director for the past nine years, will now lead the group that carries a six-decade-long legacy. With his appointment, executive authority will be consolidated under his leadership as both Chairman and Managing Director, a move the group believes will strengthen growth, expansion, and its global footprint.
Group Vice-Chairman Basudev Golyan said the decision reflects a message of family unity and strategic continuity, while also signaling a new era of leadership within the organization.
According to the statement issued by Jyoti Gaire, Head of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Public Relations, Akshay holds a master’s degree in business studies from ESADE University in Spain, ranked among the world’s top institutions. Since completing his studies, he has been directly involved in leading several companies under the Golyan Group umbrella.
Golyan Group has a strong presence in manufacturing, renewable energy, agriculture, and hospitality sectors. With a history spanning over 60 years, the group employs nearly 10,000 people, operates in more than 60 global markets, and records an annual turnover exceeding USD 400 million.
The group has consistently emphasized its commitment to supporting Nepal’s economic self-reliance. Observers believe that the rise of younger leadership at the top will further contribute to the country’s economic growth and prosperity.
“This is not merely a transfer of responsibility, but a commitment to transform a legacy for the modern era,” Chairman Akshay Golyan said after assuming office. “We are committed to positioning the group as an internationally competitive institution beyond Nepal’s borders, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainable development, and good corporate governance.”
The Board of Directors has conferred the title of “Honorary Chairman” and Principal Patron on founder Chairman Pawan Golyan, recognizing his unparalleled contribution to the group’s growth and to Nepal’s economy.
Chairman Akshay Golyan expressed confidence that continued guidance from the founder chairman will help the group remain true to its core values while adopting modern strategies for future growth.
