KATHMANDU: Nepal Telecom has started a new test that lets prepaid mobile users update their personal details (KYC) online. This service was first launched at the Sundhara Telecom Office in Kathmandu. Now, instead of filling out paper forms, customers can simply scan a QR code to fix their names or other information on their SIM cards.
The new service was opened by Ganga Sagar Matanche, the Chief Commercial Officer, and Indal Yadav, the Director of Bagmati Province. During the launch, Mr. Matanche said that this change will make the company’s services much easier for customers to use. Mr. Yadav added that using technology like this saves time and helps the company work more efficiently.
How the New System WorksNirmal Chataut, the head of the Sundhara office, explained that this new system is part of a plan to stop using so much paper. When a customer scans the QR code and fills out the digital form, the information goes directly into Nepal Telecom’s system. Once the system checks and confirms the details, the user’s information is updated automatically.
This digital way of working is much faster than the old method. It helps keep customer records accurate without the need for long wait times or manual data entry by staff.
Future Plans for All UsersRight now, the service is only being tested at the Sundhara office. However, Nepal Telecom plans to bring this feature to all its offices in the Kathmandu Valley and eventually across the whole country.
The company is also working on a plan to make it even more convenient. Soon, customers will be able to update their KYC details from the comfort of their own homes. This will be done through the official Nepal Telecom website or their mobile app. This move is a big step toward making telecom services in Nepal fully digital and user-friendly.
