Gold Jumps by Rs 2,100 per Tola in Nepal, Silver Prices Decline

KATHMANDU: Gold prices in the domestic market rose sharply on Friday, climbing by Rs 2,100 per tola, while silver prices moved in the opposite direction, posting a decline.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, fine gold has been fixed at Rs 267,800 per tola for the day. On Thursday, gold was traded at Rs 265,700 per tola, reflecting a strong upward movement within a single trading session.

Despite the increase, gold remains below its all-time high recorded on Poush 13, when prices surged to a historic peak of Rs 270,600 per tola. Traders say recent volatility reflects a combination of global market trends and local demand dynamics.

In contrast, silver prices fell by Rs 55 per tola on Friday. Silver, which was traded at Rs 4,835 per tola a day earlier, has now been fixed at Rs 4,780 per tola.

Silver had previously reached its highest-ever level on Poush 23, when it touched Rs 4,935 per tola.

Market participants continue to closely monitor international bullion prices and currency movements, as both metals have shown heightened fluctuations in recent weeks.
