Siddhartha Bank appoints Rameshwar Prasad Basyal as CEO

KATHMANDU: Siddhartha Bank Limited has appointed Rameshwar Prasad Basyal as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with the appointment effective from Poush 25, the bank said in a statement.

The decision was taken by the bank’s Board of Directors, marking a leadership transition at one of Nepal’s leading commercial banks amid a gradually stabilizing banking and financial environment.

Basyal brings nearly 36 years of experience in the banking sector. He began his professional career at Nabil Bank, where he served in various responsible positions between 1989 and 2005, gaining exposure to core banking operations, credit management, and market development.

Since 2005, Basyal has been associated with Siddhartha Bank, where he has steadily risen through the ranks. Over the past two decades, he has held key leadership roles including Manager, Senior Manager, Assistant General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Assistant Chief Executive Officer, and most recently, Deputy Chief Executive Officer. His long tenure within the institution is seen as a factor ensuring continuity in management and strategy.

According to the bank, Basyal has extensive experience in overall bank operations, with particular expertise in market expansion, credit deployment, and risk management. He is also known for advocating strong institutional governance and disciplined banking practices.

Siddhartha Bank expressed confidence that under Basyal’s leadership, the institution will further strengthen its focus on sustainable growth, improved customer service, and organizational consolidation. The bank believes his appointment comes at a crucial time, as the financial sector seeks stability, prudent risk management, and renewed confidence among depositors and investors.

The appointment is expected to support Siddhartha Bank’s strategic priorities, including balance sheet strengthening, digital banking expansion, and enhanced compliance with evolving regulatory requirements in Nepal’s banking sector.
