Share market turns green: NEPSE jumps 27 points, turnover crosses Rs 11 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rebounded strongly on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, with the benchmark index rising by 27.19 points to close at 2,708.70, ending a two-day losing streak.

Alongside the index gain, market activity surged sharply. The market, which had recorded a turnover of Rs 7.49 billion on Wednesday, witnessed transactions worth Rs 11.58 billion on Thursday. A total of 326 scrips were traded through 108,817 transactions, with 35.57 million shares changing hands.

Three companies’ shares hit the positive circuit limit during the session. Share prices of Kalinchok Darshan, Super Mai Hydropower, and Modi Energy rose to the maximum permissible level. Similarly, shares of Ridi Power Company and Khanikhola Hydropower climbed by nearly 10 percent, while Ghalemdi Hydro gained more than 9.5 percent.

On the losing side, Super Madi Hydropower recorded the highest decline, with its share price dropping by 10 percent.

In terms of turnover, Union Hydropower topped the list with transactions worth Rs 587.7 million. Radhi Bidyut Company followed with turnover exceeding Rs 575 million, while SY Panel Nepal saw transactions worth more than Rs 535 million.

Sector-wise, 12 out of 13 sub-indices closed in positive territory, while only one declined. The “Others” and Non-Life Insurance sub-indices recorded the highest gain of 1.98 percent. The Hydropower, Investment, and Life Insurance sub-indices also rose by more than 1 percent.

The day’s performance indicates renewed investor interest and improved market sentiment, reflected in both index growth and a sharp rise in trading volume.
