KATHMANDU: Internet service provider WorldLink Communications Ltd. has installed a solar power system and medical storage equipment at a rural health facility in Kalikot, while also launching digital English classes for local students under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
The company handed over a 3-kilowatt solar energy system along with a deep freezer to the Nanikot Basic Health Post in Pachhal Jharana Rural Municipality-7. The facility had long faced problems storing medicines and vaccines due to unreliable electricity supply and the lack of proper refrigeration.
With the new solar installation, the health post is expected to ensure safer storage of medicines, vaccines, and other temperature-sensitive supplies, improving service delivery for local residents. Company officials, local representatives, health workers, and community stakeholders were present during the handover.
Speaking at the event, WorldLink CSR Director Anupa Bhandari Jalan said the company has been running community-focused programmes in different parts of the country and remains committed to strengthening rural health services. She noted that the company prioritises not only connectivity infrastructure but also improvements in education and healthcare quality.
Digital education support for rural school
During the same visit, the company also conducted online English language classes for 25 students of Shree Pangeli Devi Secondary School in the same ward. The classes were delivered through a smartboard-supported virtual learning system under WorldLink’s CSR initiative, in collaboration with a social partner organisation.
Jalan visited the school to observe the classes, review students’ learning progress, and assess the effectiveness of digital teaching tools. Participating students were awarded certificates to encourage continued learning.
Company officials said virtual instruction can help boost students’ confidence, exposure, and language skills, particularly in remote areas where access to qualified teachers and modern learning tools remains limited.
The initiative is expected to contribute to improved rural healthcare reliability and expand access to digital education in underserved communities.
