Himalaya Airlines resumes Kathmandu–Dubai flights after Middle East war ease

KATHMANDU: Himalaya Airlines has officially resumed its Kathmandu–Dubai flight operations after recent disruptions caused by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, signaling a gradual normalization in international air connectivity from Nepal.

The airline confirmed that its scheduled flights to Dubai are now back in operation, restoring a critical air corridor for Nepali migrant workers, business travelers, and tourists commuting between Nepal and the Gulf region.

Flights Disrupted by Regional Instability

In recent weeks, heightened tensions across parts of the Middle East had forced several airlines, including Himalaya Airlines, to suspend or adjust flight schedules due to safety concerns and airspace restrictions. The Kathmandu–Dubai route, one of the busiest international sectors for Nepal, was significantly impacted, affecting thousands of passengers.

The resumption of flights indicates improving operational conditions and enhanced coordination among aviation authorities, allowing airlines to safely navigate previously restricted airspaces.

Passenger Advisory Issued

Himalaya Airlines has urged passengers holding tickets for the Dubai sector to reconfirm their bookings. Travelers have been advised to either revalidate previously issued tickets or make fresh bookings by contacting authorized travel agencies or the airline’s booking offices.

The airline emphasized the importance of verifying updated schedules and travel requirements, as conditions in international aviation remain sensitive to geopolitical developments.

Economic and Connectivity Significance

The Kathmandu–Dubai air route plays a vital role in Nepal’s economy, particularly in sustaining labor mobility to Gulf countries, which contribute significantly to Nepal’s remittance inflows. The restoration of this route is expected to ease travel bottlenecks and support both outbound workers and returning migrants.

Industry stakeholders view the development as a positive step toward stabilizing Nepal’s international aviation sector, which has been repeatedly tested by global uncertainties ranging from pandemics to geopolitical conflicts.

With operations resuming, airlines and authorities are expected to closely monitor the regional situation to ensure uninterrupted service and passenger safety in the coming weeks.
