KATHMANDU: The U.S. Embassy Nepal, in partnership with the International Development Institute and Aadyanta Advisory, has launched a nationwide Entrepreneurship Skill-Building Program aimed at strengthening Nepal’s startup ecosystem and enhancing private sector growth.
The initiative officially kicked off in Nepalgunj, targeting entrepreneurs from Lumbini Province, and will expand to key economic hubs including Dhangadhi, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Hetauda, Bhairahawa, and Pokhara.
Nationwide Reach, 200 Entrepreneurs to Benefit
The program is expected to engage approximately 200 early-stage entrepreneurs from all seven provinces through a combination of in-person workshops and virtual bootcamps, ensuring broad geographic and digital inclusion.
Participants will receive hands-on training in:
Business fundamentals and model developmentMarket validation strategiesInvestor communication and pitchingDigital marketing and brandingExport readiness and global market access
These competencies are designed to help startups evolve into investment-ready, scalable businesses capable of generating employment, boosting exports, and contributing to Nepal’s long-term economic growth.
Strengthening Nepal–U.S. Economic Ties
Speaking at the launch, Mike Harker, Public Affairs Chief at the U.S. Embassy Nepal, emphasized the strategic importance of entrepreneurship in economic development.
“Entrepreneurs are essential to economic growth and innovation. By supporting Nepali founders as they build scalable businesses, this program strengthens Nepal’s private sector and creates new opportunities for trade and commercial cooperation between the United States and Nepal,” he said.
Part of U.S.–Nepal Commercial Diplomacy Push
The initiative is a key component of the U.S.–Nepal Commercial Diplomacy Series, which aims to deepen bilateral economic engagement by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and private sector collaboration.

The program is being implemented by the International Development Institute and Aadyanta Advisory in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce Nepal and the Global Impact Collective.
Boost to Nepal’s Startup Ecosystem
The nationwide rollout is expected to significantly strengthen Nepal’s innovation ecosystem, SME growth pipeline, and startup financing landscape, particularly at a time when the country is seeking to attract foreign investment and integrate into regional and global value chains.
By expanding access to entrepreneurship support beyond Kathmandu, the program also aims to decentralize economic opportunities, empowering youth and founders across provinces to participate in Nepal’s emerging digital and startup economy.
