Balen-Led Cabinet takes 4 key decisions in first meeting, Commits to implement probe report

KATHMANDU: The first Cabinet meeting of the newly formed government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah has taken four key decisions, including the implementation of the probe commission report on the Gen-Z movement.

Government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmita Pokharel made the decisions public following the बैठक held shortly after the Prime Minister’s appointment.

According to the government, the meeting decided to:

  • Pay tribute and express respect to all known and unknown martyrs of the Bhadau 23–24 Gen-Z movement and previous protests.
  • Appoint the Minister for Education, Science and Technology as the official government spokesperson.
  • Approve a 100-point governance reform agenda, which will be made public by tomorrow.
  • Implement the report submitted by the probe commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki on the incidents during the Bhadau protests.

The Cabinet also decided to form a separate study committee to review recommendations related to security agencies, while other recommendations from the commission will be implemented immediately.

The meeting marks the government’s first step toward governance reform and accountability following recent political developments.
