KATHMANDU. Domestic airfares in Nepal have increased significantly following a hike in aviation fuel prices by the Nepal Oil Corporation, with the Kathmandu–Dhangadhi route witnessing the highest increase of Rs 5,480.
The fare adjustment comes after the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, in coordination with airline operators, recommended a revision in fuel surcharge rates to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, which has approved the new pricing.
Mountain flight fares have also gone up by Rs 4,225. Among major domestic routes, Kathmandu–Bhadrapur fares have increased by Rs 3,725, Biratnagar by Rs 2,980, Simara by Rs 1,120, Rajbiraj by Rs 2,540, Janakpur by Rs 1,600, Tumlingtar by Rs 2,290, Chitwan by Rs 1,330, Bhairahawa by Rs 2,555, Nepalgunj by Rs 4,045, Surkhet by Rs 4,285, and Pokhara by Rs 1,970.
The price hike follows Nepal Oil Corporation’s decision to increase domestic aviation fuel prices by Rs 124 per liter, taking the new rate to Rs 251 per liter.
