KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balen Shah is set to hold a collective meeting with ambassadors from various countries stationed in Kathmandu today, in what is being viewed as a strategic diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening Nepal’s global positioning and foreign relations.
According to officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nepal, the meeting will take place this afternoon at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The session will be attended by Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal and is expected to include a brief but significant address by the Prime Minister to the diplomatic community.
Government sources indicate that the interaction is designed to reinforce Nepal’s diplomatic outreach, enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and communicate the government’s priorities to the international community—particularly in areas such as economic development, investment climate, infrastructure expansion, and regional stability.
In a parallel development, Prime Minister’s political advisor Asim Shah emphasized the importance of the engagement, framing it as a milestone in Nepal’s diplomatic evolution.
“Prime Minister Balen Shah is engaging in a collective dialogue with foreign ambassadors today. This interaction, alongside Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, will establish a new benchmark of diplomatic dignity,” Shah stated. “Dignified diplomacy, strong Nepal.”
Diplomatic observers note that such coordinated engagements with ambassadors are often used by governments to align international partners with national priorities, improve investor confidence, and signal policy stability—key factors for Nepal’s economic growth and foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows.
The meeting comes at a time when Nepal is actively seeking to reposition itself in the global economic landscape, leveraging diplomacy to attract development partnerships, boost tourism, and expand trade relations with both traditional and emerging partners.
Further details of the discussions and any policy directions emerging from the meeting are expected to be formally communicated following the conclusion of the session.
