Pension Plan
KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has officially launched a new digital platform enabling retired employees to access pension services from home, marking a major step toward e-governance and public service reform.
The system, named the Pension Management Information System, was formally inaugurated on Friday by Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle amid a special event in Kathmandu.
Developed under the Financial Comptroller General Office and its subordinate bodies, the platform aims to make pension services more efficient, accessible, and technology-driven. The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to digitize public services and improve service delivery for citizens.
With the implementation of this system, retired personnel—including civil servants, teachers, Nepal Army, and Nepal Police—can now access pension-related services online without needing to physically visit government offices.
To use the service, beneficiaries can log in to the official website of the Pension Management Office and navigate to the “Our Services” section, where relevant options are available. The system also includes video tutorials to guide users, ensuring ease of use even for those less familiar with digital tools.
One of the most significant changes introduced by the system is the removal of the requirement for pensioners to visit banks annually for verification. Similarly, the need to physically travel to pension offices to open or manage pension accounts has been eliminated.
Officials say the digital transition will not only reduce administrative burdens and costs but also improve transparency and efficiency in pension distribution. The government expects the system to deliver more convenient, cost-effective, and citizen-friendly services to thousands of retired employees across Nepal.
