KATHMANDU: Industrialist Pawan Golyan has strongly denied media reports linking him to businessman Deepak Bhatta, stating that the published claims are misleading, unverified, and damaging to his reputation.

In a public statement issued on Friday, Golyan expressed surprise over news reports associating his name with Bhatta, who is currently under investigation. He said the reports contained “false, baseless, and fabricated details” that directly impact his personal integrity, professional conduct, and long-established social standing.

Clarifying his position, Golyan stated that he has no partnership or business relationship with Bhatta, contrary to what has been reported. He further emphasized that he has never held any shares—either as a promoter or a general shareholder—in Himalayan Reinsurance Limited at any point in time.

Golyan warned that such unfounded reporting has caused serious harm to his reputation built over decades, as well as to the image of his family and their longstanding social legacy of more than 70 years. He described the publication of unverified claims on such serious matters as a violation of fundamental journalistic ethics and standards.

He also raised concerns about the broader implications of disseminating false information, stating that it undermines public trust in journalism and infringes on citizens’ right to receive accurate and factual information. He noted that such actions could damage the credibility of the media as a key pillar of democracy.

Golyan urged his well-wishers, business community members, and the general public not to believe in what he termed as misleading and false news reports.
