Shares worth Rs 70.46 billion listed on NEPSE; Bonus shares alone reach Rs 12.59 billion

KATHMANDU: Shares and securities worth Rs 70.46 billion have been listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) during the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2025/26, with bonus shares alone accounting for Rs 12.59 billion.

According to data released by Nepal Rastra Bank, the stock market witnessed a steady inflow of various financial instruments up to mid-March (Falgun-end).

During the review period:

  • Ordinary (primary) shares worth Rs 36.38 billion were listed
  • Rights shares worth Rs 9.64 billion were added
  • Mutual funds amounting to Rs 7.50 billion were listed
  • Debentures worth Rs 3.40 billion entered the market
  • Follow-on Public Offerings (FPOs) worth Rs 925 million were issued
  • Other securities worth Rs 22.9 million were listed

This brings the total new listings to Rs 70.46 billion in the eight-month period.

In parallel, the Securities Board of Nepal approved public issuance of securities worth Rs 37.01 billion during the same period. This includes:

  • Mutual funds worth Rs 23.13 billion
  • Ordinary shares worth Rs 8.70 billion
  • Rights shares worth Rs 4.94 billion
  • Debentures worth Rs 200 million
  • FPOs worth Rs 50 million

As of mid-March, a total of 9.26 billion units of shares listed on NEPSE have a paid-up value of Rs 911.99 billion.

The number of listed companies has reached 286, up from 268 in the same period last year. Among them:

  • 133 are banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies
  • 97 are hydropower companies
  • 27 belong to manufacturing and processing industries
  • 8 are hotels
  • 7 are investment companies
  • 4 are trading companies
  • 10 fall under other categories

In terms of market capitalization share:

  • Banking and financial institutions and insurance companies hold 52.2%
  • Hydropower companies account for 15.9%
  • Investment companies hold 7.4%
  • Manufacturing and processing industries represent 7.2%
  • Trading companies account for 4.4%
  • Hotels hold 3.1%
  • Others make up 9.8%
