Govt starts selling goats for Dashain

KATHMANDU: The government-owned Food Management and Trading Company Ltd has started selling live goats for Dashain from today.

As per the company, it has set price of live goats at Rs 550 per kilogram. Though the company had initially set the price at Rs 560 per kilogram, it is giving away Rs 10 per kilogram discount to buyers.

The company brought goats from Dang and Hetauda. The government sells limited goats every year for Dashain in Kathmandu Valley to control arbitrary rise in meat price during the festive season.
