Govt decides to complete distribution of Poor ID Cards by mid-July next year

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to complete the distribution of Poor ID Cards to needy population by the end of the current fiscal year.

A meeting between high-level officials of the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation (MoLMCPA) took the decision to this effect on Wednesday.

An understanding has been reached between two ministries whereby MoLMCPA will ensure that Poor ID Cards are distributed among entire needy population by mid-July next year while the MoF wiill ensure availability of resource to capitalize the concerned target.

The meeting also decided to prepare a timeline complete the Poor ID Cards distribution process.

At the meeting, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said that there was a problem in running relief and concessional programs on behalf of the state due to lack of data on the poor and deprived sections.
