Govt to implement central monitoring system to strengthen supply system

KATHMANDU: Citing that it was difficult to supply of goods to the consumers during the crisis owing to the weak supply system, the government is preparing to develop and implement a central market monitoring system, which will be more systematic.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has started groundwork to develop the central market monitoring system.

Earlier, even during the earthquake, discussions were held on strengthening the supply system in the market. But nothing was done to address the fragile supply system in the country.

However, Commerce Secretary Baikuntha Aryal said that a new, strong and scientific system will be developed this time, in reality, to address the supply side issue.

As of today, there are no accurate statistics on the production of any commodity in the market. There is no proper statistics on the production of essential commodities in Nepal and their annual demand.

In fact, the government does not have any systematic and integrated database production of goods in Nepal and necessary imports to be made.
