Tourism entrepreneurs into protest seeking implementation of relief package

KATHMANDU: Tourism entrepreneurs have announced of protest citing that the relief package for tourism industry, as mentioned in the Monetary Policy, has not been implemented.

Binaya Basnet, senior vice-president of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents, said that the protest has been called called because government and its agencies are lingering to provide relief to tourism businesses as provisioned in the Monetary Policy for 2020-21.

“The relief package is being focused to big entrepreneurs while small tourism businesses and entrepreneurs are not taken care of. Thus, we are into protest starting this Saturday and the protest will continue unless promised relief packages are provided to us,” said Basnet.

Earlier, the government had announced to provide interest subsidy, electricity and rental discount to deferment of loan payment period for tourism businesses.
