Nepal to resume transport with India after one-year restriction

KATHMANDU: The Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre has recommended that Nepal resume the transport with India that has been halted for the past one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A meeting of the centre forwarded the recommendation to the cabinet, informs the CCMC Secretary Khagaraj Baral.

Baral informs 13 Nepal-India routes will open for inter-country travel once the cabinet makes this decision. Nonetheless, passengers are still required to present a PCR negative report from a test conducted within the last 72 hours and maintain precautions while travelling.

Likewise, the meeting also decided to allow India-registered vehicles to ply Nepali roads as in the past after completing required customs procedures.

The inter-country transportation was halted since March 2020.
