NEA signs agreement with Chinese firm to construct 50 EV charging stations

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has inked an agreement with a Chinese contractor for the construction and operation of 50 electric vehicle charging stations across different parts of the country.

The project worth 367.955 million was inked with Wanbang Digital Energy Corporation Limited, Jiangsu, China. The contractor will be responsible for delivery, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging stations.

As per NEA’s Electric Vehicles Charging Infrastructure Development Project, the contractor has been mandated to complete construction of these charging stations within one year.

These charging station will have 60/60 kW DC and 22 kW AC chargers for fast charging. From this, three vehicles including a big bus can be charged simultaneously.
