Dealers request banks to resume import of raw gold

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepal Gold Silver Gem & Jewellery Associations has asked the government to resume the import of gold.

Banks had halted import of gold with the imposition of the lockdown intended to curb the pandemic.

As the the government has eased the restriction and allowed businesses to reopen, gold traders have requested the government to resume import of the yellow metal.

The federation opined that gold import should be resumed as the festive season in Nepal is approaching.

Different commercial banks have been importing raw gold on turn-wise basis and have been supplying to traders.
