Business enterprises witness revenue decline due to Covid-19

KATHMANDU: As much as 45 percent of the business enterprises in the country witnessed a decline in revenue due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as per the Business Climate Survey 2020/21.

These businesses witnessed fall in  revenue by almost 75 percent. The survey revealed that 32 percent of the enterprises saw a decline in revenue between 50 to 70 percent, while 15 percent of business stated their revenue had declined by 25 to 50 percent and only one percent of the enterprises had a little increase in revenue.

The Business Climate Survey is conducted by Local and Provincial Economic Development Project (LPED) which is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation and GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). These results were made public in a program titled ‘National Dissemination Workshop of the Business Climate Survey 2020/21 organized by the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation.
