Over 4.9 million people get first dose of Covid-19 vaccine so far

KATHMANDU: More than 4.9 people in Nepal have received their first dose of vaccine against COVID-19 and more than 3.8 million have received their full dose as of Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 4,942,250 people have received their first shot against COVID-19 and 3,846,736 of them are fully vaccinated.

The government is administering vaccines including AstraZeneca, Covishield, Johnson & Johnson and Vero Cell across the country.
According to the MoHP, 18,322 people were inoculated in the last 24 hours across the nation.

The MoHP on Sunday confirmed 1,920 new cases of COVID-19 of which 1,702 are detected through PCR tests and 218 from antigen tests.
With this, the nationwide COVID-19 tally through PCR method reached 747,433 and 80,209 through antigen tests.

Of the total 12,616 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 9,443 were Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) while 3,073 antigen tests, informed the MoHP.

The Kathmandu Valley recorded 536 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 359 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 110 in Lalitpur and 61 in Bhaktapur.

According to the data released by the MoHP, 22 districts, including Morang, Jhapa, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan and Makawanpur have more than 500 active cases each and 17 other districts have more than 200 active cases each.

The active caseload was 38,751 on Sunday. According to the MoHP, of the active cases, 3,196 patients are admitted to various health facilities while the remaining 35,555 are in home isolation.

As per the latest update, 681 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and 169 are under treatment with ventilator support across the nation.
