654 Nepalis repatriated from Afghanistan in last 10 days

KATHMANDU: A total of 654 Nepalis have been rescued and repatriated from Afghanistan since chaos began in the country.

As per the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more Nepalis are being repatriated from Afghanistan soon. In the course of their rescue, 39 Nepalis arrived in Kathmandu in a flight of Fly Dubai on Sunday night and seven from Turkish Air and 104 others from Qatar on Monday.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 361 more Nepalis have registered their details in the web portal of the Department of Consular Service till Monday evening for the rescue and repatriation.

Of those Nepalis who have come to the government’s contact so far, two Nepalis don’t have their passports and necessary arrangements are being made to issue travel documents to facilitate their travel to Nepal, according to the MoFA Spokesperson Sewa Lamsal.

The government has already formed a taskforce to rescue and repatriate Nepalis stranded in Afghanistan after the recent political developments there.
