Decision on MCC In coordination with other parties: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba  said that the decision on Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact will be taken in coordination with major political parties after ample discussion.

Addressing a meeting of the parliamentary party of the Nepali Congress (NC) on Tuesday, Prime Minister Deuba said that the government would hold consultations with other political parties before deciding on MCC. Pushpa Bhusal, whip of NC, said, “In the meeting, Prime Minister Deuba clarified that the NC had signed the MCC only after a detailed study.”

Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, when he was finance minister, had signed the MCC under Deuba’s premiership. Stating that those against the nation’s development had spread wrong messages about MCC, Prime Minister Deuba said, “In reality, as this aid is for the infrastructural development of the nation, the country must endorse it.”

According to lawmaker Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Deuba had also directed only those lawmakers having intensive knowledge to make comments on MCC.

Moreover, Prime Minister Deuba has called all the NC parliamentarians to mandatorily attend the federal parliament and play an effective role.
Discussions on issues regarding the expansion of the Cabinet and ordinances were also held in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to inform about the diplomatic note sent to India regarding the Darchula Tuin accident in the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday.

NC whip Bhusal and lawmaker Pradhan said that Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand would be informing the parliament about the diplomatic note on Wednesday.
