Supreme Court defers hearing on writ petition against NEA MD Ghising

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has deferred the hearing on the writ petition filed against the appointment of Kulman Ghising as the managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The hearing on the case was deferred on request of petitioner’s lawyer to put off the hearing.

The outgoing NEA MD Hitendra Dev Shakya has demanded an interim order to overturn the decision to appoint Ghising to the top post of NEA. He had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on August 16, seeking his reinstatement to the post.

Shakya filed a writ petition seeking his reinstatement arguing that the government had removed him illegally. Former NEA Managing Director Shakya was transferred to the Water and Energy Commission by the government on August 9.
