Finance Minister Sharma directs secretaries to make action plans on budget implementation

KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma directed the secretaries to prepare a list of tasks under their charge and formulate an immediate action plan on the basis of monthly work percentage.

Addressing a high-level discussion about the effective implementation of the budget at the Ministry of Finance on Monday, he expressed his commitment that there would be no delay in the work to be done by the Ministry of Finance regarding budget implementation and capital expenditure.

Minister Sharma also directed the officials of the Ministry of Finance to expedite the process of finalising the old files within seven days and the new files within three days.

High-level discussions have been held among the secretaries of the ministries on the implementation of the replacement budget.

The meeting discussed the effective implementation of the new programmes in the replacement budget and the continuity projects of the previous budget, according to a press statement of MoF.

During the discussion, it has been decided to determine the monthly work percentage to increase the capital expenditure, to complete the work immediately on the issues that need to be prepared, and to move ahead with the issues that need to be decided through inter-ministerial coordination.

On the occasion, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel said that all the ministries should work hard to achieve the target of 7 per cent economic growth set by the replacement budget.

Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini stressed the need to start work immediately by making a monthly action plan to make the implementation of the replacement budget effective as per the minimum common policy programme of the coalition government.
