Govt to release social security allowances every three months

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to distribute social security allowances every three months. Until now, the allowances were being distributed every four months.

The Department of Civil Id and National Registration says the provision has come into effect from the beginning of this fiscal year (mid-July) as mentioned in the Economic Procedure and Financial Responsibility Regulations.

All local governments across the country have been directed to make changes accordingly.

The department says the number of people receiving different social security allowances is three million and 465,713 currently. The government has allocated around Rs 100 billion for social security allowances this year.

Meanwhile, the government has increased the social security allowances from this year.
