Nearly 80 percent of total mobile banking users in Bagmati Province, 0.6 percent in Karnali

KATHMANDU: A study by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has showed that Bagmati Province is not only ahead in deposit and loan mobilization but also in terms of mobile banking users. The study pointed out that Bagmati Province is on top of using mobile banking due to lack of decentralization of financial services properly.

As per NRB, Bagmati Province contributes the most in mobile banking with 68.6 percent while the Karnali Province contributes the least with 0.6 percent. Similarly, Province 1 contributes 8 percent, Province 2 contributes 7.6 percent, Gandaki Province contributes 6.6 percent, Lumbini Province contributes 6.9 percent and Sudurpaschim Province contributes 1.7 percent.

Amongst, the mobile banking users most users are from Bagmati Province with 39.5 percent while the least are from Karnali Province with only 2.9 percent. Similarly, Province 1 has 13.7 percent of users, Province 2 has 9.6 percent of users, Gandaki Province has 11.5 percent users, Lumbini has 16.2 percent of users, Sudurpashchim has 6.5 percent of the total users, as per data released by NRB.

Gandaki has least number of people receiving banking services per branch with only 1857 people. Karnali Province has the highest number of people receiving banking services per branch with 4457 people.
