Nabil Bank launches School of Social Entrepreneurship

KATHMANDU: Nabil Bank has officially launched Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship (SSE) at the Tribhuvan University’s School of Management (SOMTU) on Friday.

The school is established as a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the bank to support, develop and promote social entrepreneurship in Nepal, said Anil Keshari Shah, Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

“Through Nabil SSE, the bank aims to foster socio-economic transformation by promoting social entrepreneurship within the society based on innovative solutions to long-term social problems,” it said in a statement.
In order to create learning programmes under Nabil SSE, the bank has partnered with the school for Social Entrepreneurship India which will be playing the role of ‘technical partner’ to help identify, support and encourage entrepreneurial capacity amongst people working towards creating social impacts.

The school will be offering two different programmes: fellowship programme in social entrepreneurship and certificate course in social entrepreneurship.

According to the bank, the fellowship programme will be a 6-month programme which will be conducted in partnership with SOMTU under the Faculty of Management.

By the end of this programme, 40 fellows will be completing a 6-month course and 12-month mentorship. The programme is expected to equip the students to start their own social enterprises with the support from Nabil SSE team.

The bank has partnered with seven different colleges in seven provinces to run a 3-month certificate course for social entrepreneurs.

The course will run at Mahendra Morang Adarsh Multiple Campus in Province 1, Birgunj Public College in Province 2, Campion College in Bagmati, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Pokhara University in Gandaki, Kshitiz International College in Lumbini, Surkhet Model College in Karnali and Sudur Paschimanchal Academy in Sudurpaschim.
