Impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana

KATHMANDU: An impeachment motion has been filed against Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana at the Parliament Secretariat on Sunday.

Ruling Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist) filed the motion this afternoon. Maoist Centre Chief Whip Dev Gurung said that the motion was filed as per Article 101 (2) of the Constitution.

As per Article 101 of the Constitution, the chief justice has been suspended following the proposal of the impeachment motion. Following this, senior justice Deep Kumar Karki will now be the acting chief justice of the apex court.
