House today, discussion on MCC compact scheduled

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is scheduled for 1 PM today. The Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) compact will be discussed in the meeting.

As the government has tabled the agreement in parliament, the $500 million American grant now requires a parliamentary ratification.

The meeting earlier scheduled for Thursday was postponed for Friday at the request of the government.

At the time when the protests have erupted against the MCC agreement and the ruling alliance is fragmented, the ratification of the MCC compact hangs in the balance.
