Former CPN-UML Finance Ministers criticize govt’s decision to suspend governor

KATHMANDU: Former Finance Ministers from CPN-UML has criticized the decision of the government to suspend governor Maha Prasad Adhikari. They said that the decision to suspend governor Adhikari, amidst deteriorating economy, is nothing but an attempt to blur government’s inability to cope current crisis.

The government, on Friday, had suspended Nepal Rastra Bank governor Adhikari on charge of leaking sensitive information.

“The depleting pressure on foreign reserve, massive surge in import, rising inflation and fuel price, liquidity crisis, among others have hinted that Nepal’s economy is towards crisis,” informed former Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada, adding, “Decision to suspend the governor at such context without logical reason is unfortunate.”

Similarly, former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey said that the government has put the financial sector and the entire economy in risk by suspending governor who had been giving positive outputs.
