Finance Secretary Marasini goes on leave amid tax rate manipulation controversy

KATHMANDU: Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini has gone on leave for an indefinite period from Wednesday. As per sources at the Ministry of Finance (MoF), Marasini’s decision to stay on leave after Finance Minister Janardan Sharma failed to taken any stand over tax rate manipulation controversy.

Minister Sharma has been charged of changing tax rates in the budget for the next fiscal year through support from some outsiders. Following criticism, there was a call to investigate the CCTV footage. However, the ministry has already said the footage was automatically deleted.
