EU sending air safety audit team in preparation to remove Nepal from the blacklist

KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) have said that the European Commission is sending their air safety audit team to Nepal to remove the Nepali aviation industry from their safety list.

The European Commission’s decision to keep Nepal’s aviation industry under its safety list has barred aircraft belonging to Nepali airline companies from the European skies since 2013.

Pradeep Adhikari, director general at the CAAN, said that commission has sent a letter stating it will send a team to audit the status here soon. Because the European Commission is ready to audit the status unconditionally, the authority has interpreted it as a positive move, according to him.

“Nepal has progressed in a recent ICAO air safety audit, this shall be reflected in the EU audit too” said Adhikari, adding, we hope that Nepali airlines carrier will soon to fly to European skies.
