KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation has issued a circular to all local levels to allocate agricultural and non-agricultural land by November this year. For the time being, the Ministry has informed that the local land use council should make a decision and separate the agricultural and non-agricultural areas by the 23rd of November.
Issuing a statement, the ministry said, “After that, land use area classification, land use plan formulation and implementation work will have to be done at the relevant level.” The surveying department has prepared the land use map, electronic records or data of all 753 local levels and handed them over to the relevant local level. The local level will be able to distinguish the land use area by using the map and data.
For the purpose of determining cultivable land or non-agricultural area, the local land use council has to classify agricultural area and non-agricultural area based on the criteria specified in Land Use Act 2076 and Land Use Regulation 2079. In this way, the local level can recommend non-agricultural land for allotment purposes only after land classification.
