New Palliative Care Centre of Hospice building new home in Dhapakhel

KATHMANDU: Stone laying ceremony of the new palliative care centre of Hospice Nepal in Dhapakhel is observed on Thursday. Hospice Nepal is a not for profit Non-Governmental organization duly registered with the Government of Nepal, established in the year 2000 to develop palliative care in the country.

It provides an in-patient service in an eight bedded unit at Lagankhel, community service in Kathmandu Valley, and Rural Community based service in Makwanpur District; its service is free for patients.

To spread palliative care across the country, Hospice Nepal has envisioned a model palliative care centre with 20 bedded units with training facilities.

Five ropanies of land has been procured at Dhapakhel, Lalitpur 24. Fundraising is underway both at the international and national levels.

After the much-dedicated effort of all those involved in Project Hospice Nepal, they have successfully completed the stone-laying ceremony of the new palliative care centre at Dhapakhel, Lalitpur 24 on 11th Oct. 2022.

The total cost of the construction of the building is around 15 crores, of which Rs 40 crores have been collected from various donors. The founders of this centre are Rajesh Gangol, Pradeep Vaidya, and Om Rajbhandari. This new premise will definitely change the dynamics of palliative care by providing excellent service.

All the board directors of Hospice Nepal are determined to complete the first phase of construction of the building in two years and to complete the entire project in 4 years. They also invited all donors to help establish this emergency service centre.
