Ncell 16th Durbarmarg Street Festival to be held on 2nd Baisakh

KATHMANDU: On the occasion of Nepali New Year 2080 BS, ‘Ncell Presents Purple Saturday: 16th Durbarmarg Street Festival’ will be organized on 2nd of Baisakh, Saturday at Durbarmarg in Kathmandu.

This festival will be put on by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Durbarmarg Development Board, and Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal (ReBAN), with special sponsorship from Ncell.

This festival, according to the organizer, will be held to support the tourism sector and micro, small, and medium-sized businesses. The festival’s primary goals are to support domestic travel, promote Nepali cuisine, products, and culture, as well as to support the country’s overall tourism development.

Within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, this festival will also aid in cultural promotion and preservation. Additionally, on Saturday at 11:30 am, a performance showcasing the culture of the Kathmandu Valley will serve as the festival’s official opening. On that day, the festivities for this festival will run until 8:30 pm, and the festival area will be home to a number of entertaining performances.

This festival will feature performances by well-known musicians, artists, and singers. Famous performers Deepak Bajracharya and Rhythm Band, Kutumb Band, Pahelo Battimuni, Trishala Gurung, Rohit Shakya, Synchronous, Lahure, and The Elements, among others, will perform.

The festival will also feature products made by handicraft entrepreneurs, including women entrepreneurs, and items created by entrepreneurs with a variety of physical abilities. The festival’s main draws will be food stalls featuring a variety of Nepali dishes, a special display or presentation of indigenous goods, and a dedicated children’s area.

In the context of the ongoing work on how to bring the economy, tourism business, which has been weakened due to various factors including the recent liquidity crisis, to survival and revival, the organizers believe that the festival will greatly assist in this effort.
