Anjan Shrestha elected as senior vice-president of the FNCCI

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has elected Anjan Shrestha to the position of senior vice-president.

Ram Chandra Sanghai and Umesh Lal Shrestha were the other two contenders for the job alongside Shrestha. Sanghai lost in the first round of voting on Wednesday, and Umesh Lal Shrestha agreed to withdraw from the race, giving Shrestha the victory.

A second round of voting was held because no candidate received a majority of the vote in the first round. A candidate for senior vice-president must receive at least 50% of the vote in accordance with the FNCCI’s bylaws.

The newly chosen Senior Vice-President Shrestha serves as the executive director of the Laxmi Group, a conglomerate that includes, among other things, the Sujal Food and Dairy Products, packaging industry, automobile trading, infrastructure, steel manufacturing, and agricultural sectors. Once he has served in that capacity for three years, Shrestha will be automatically promoted to president of the FNCCI.
