Officials start talking about trading electricity to Bangladesh

KATHMANDU: On Monday, a Nepal-Bangladesh energy meeting will get underway in Dhaka, and officials from both nations will talk about starting an electricity trade.

Dinesh Kumar Ghimire of Nepal and Habibur Rahman of Bangladesh are leading their respective delegations at the meeting. But only Tuesday will be the date of the secretary-level meeting.

The Likhu-4 Hydropower Project’s electricity will be sold by Nepal to Bangladesh via India during the meeting. India has already expressed its willingness to let the two nations conduct trade through its territory.

Bangladeshi assistance in the development of the Sunkoshi-3 Hydropower Project is also something Nepal is anticipating. The discussion at the meeting will probably center on creating a joint venture for the project.
