Everest Bank Fraud Case: Operation In-Charge admits to being a part of the fraud

KATHMANDU: Police have begun recording the statements of seven Everest Bank employees on the charge of defrauding the amount deposited in the bank by depositors.

Niraj Pradhan, an employee of the Itahari branch of Everest Bank who was arrested for stealing Rs 105.23 million, has given a statement, according to the district police office in Sunsari.

Pradhan most recently served as the Gaighat branch’s operations manager in Udayapur. The 42-year-old manager of the bank’s Itahari branch, Bishwaraj Shakya, the 37-year-old supervisor, Dhawa Lama, the 27-year-old junior assistants at the bank, Manoj Ghimire, Devraj Sharma, and Ranjit Pandit, and the 30-year-old teller at the bank’s Itahari branch, Pabitra Katuwal are all under investigation for money fraud of depositors.

Along with the bank employees, other people have been detained, including Shankar Bhujel, 34, of Mithila Municipality 11 in Dhanusha, and Ajay Khiuju, 27, of Suryabinayak Municipality 2 in Bhaktapur.

DSP Rajkumar Rai of the District Police Office in Sunsari claims that Pradhan has admitted during the preliminary investigation that he was involved in fraud. “Two other people in the general public and seven bank employees were detained. “Other than those arrested, no one else has yet been charged with a crime,” he said. “Niraj Pradhan has so far acknowledged his involvement in the fraud, and the statement of six other suspects is ongoing. “.

Pradhan has acknowledged his involvement, according to District Police Office Sunsari, even though the statements of the other six people who were arrested have not yet been heard and the investigation has not yet been finished.

The amount was fraudulently withdrew using fake checks and the customer’s Connect IPS ID password, according to preliminary investigation. Under the Banking Offenses and Prevention of Organized Crime Act 2070 BS, all those detained are being investigated.
