Major breakthrough in Lalita Niwas Land Scam: Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket owner Gurung among five arrested

KATHMANDU: In a significant breakthrough, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) of Nepal Police has made multiple arrests in connection with the infamous Lalita Niwas land grab scam. The operation led to the apprehension of five individuals, including Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket, who was taken into custody from his residence in Naxal earlier today.

The primary allegation against Gurung is his involvement in the embezzlement of approximately 299 ropani 3 aanas of government land belonging to Lalita Niwas. He had previously been listed as an absconder in this high-profile case that had raised significant public outcry.

In addition to the arrest of Gurung, the CIB conducted further raids resulting in the apprehension of four more individuals implicated in the Lalita Niwas land grab scam. Kaladhar Deuja, the former head of the Land Revenue Office in Dillibazar, was among those detained for questioning.

Furthermore, CIB officers took into custody three employees identified as Surendraman Kapali, Dharmaprasad Gautam, and Bhupendra Mani KC, who are believed to have played significant roles in the fraudulent acquisition of the Lalita Niwas property.

The arrest of Min Bahadur Gurung, a prominent figure in the business community as the owner of Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket, has sent shockwaves through the public and raised questions regarding the extent of corruption within the country’s influential circles.

The Lalita Niwas land grab scam, one of the most notorious cases of land encroachment in recent years, has been a matter of concern for the public, who have been demanding justice and accountability.

The CIB’s swift action in making these arrests demonstrates the government’s commitment to combat corruption and bring those responsible to justice. The investigative team is now focused on gathering evidence, conducting interrogations, and further unraveling the complex web of individuals involved in this fraudulent scheme.

The Lalita Niwas land grab scandal revolves around the illegal transfer of government land to private individuals at significantly undervalued rates.

This corrupt practice not only deprives the state of valuable resources but also undermines public trust in the fairness and integrity of the land administration system. The authorities are determined to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that all individuals involved, regardless of their status or influence, are held accountable for their actions.

As the investigation progresses, the public awaits further developments in the case, hoping for a fair and transparent legal process that will shed light on the extent of corruption and malpractice in the country’s land management systems.

The arrests made today mark a significant milestone in the fight against corruption and send a strong message that no one is above the law.

The authorities are determined to restore public confidence and deliver justice in this high-profile case, setting a precedent for accountability in similar instances of corruption in the future.
