MoCTCA demands additional explanation from DG Adhikari of CAAN

KATHMANDU: In an ongoing development, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has intensified its inquiry into the actions of Pradeep Adhikari, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), by requesting a second clarification.

The Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, Sudan Kirati, has now sought a renewed explanation from Adhikari, raising concerns regarding the absence of a response to the initial request for clarification.

Adhikari has been given a three-day deadline to furnish a detailed explanation, following his failure to address the previous inquiry initiated on June 26, which had provided him with a generous seven-day period to respond.

It is worth noting that this subsequent request for clarification was made through a ministerial decision executed on Wednesday.

The first clarification sought by the ministry entailed a comprehensive nine-point questionnaire presented to the CAAN Director General.

Regrettably, Adhikari took a firm stance, citing his appointment by the Cabinet as a justification for not providing the requested explanation. This stance has raised further concerns within the ministry, prompting them to demand additional clarification from Adhikari.

The ministry’s clarification letter explicitly states that failure to respond to this renewed explanation within the specified three-day period will result in further legal action being pursued. The seriousness of the matter necessitates swift and appropriate resolution.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability within the aviation sector.

By demanding a second explanation from the Director General of CAAN, the ministry aims to address any lingering doubts or uncertainties surrounding the matter.

The repercussions of this investigation could potentially impact the future course of action within Nepal’s civil aviation landscape.
