Consumers hit by NOC’s price hike: cooking gas, fuel rates surge

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has implemented a substantial price hike for cooking gas, raising it by Rs 235 per cylinder, effective from midnight on Thursday.

In addition to the adjustment in cooking gas prices, NOC has also increased the rates for petrol by Rs 4 per liter, while diesel and kerosene have each seen an uptick of Rs 3 per liter. The government-owned oil entity cites the rationale behind these price hikes as being a response to the escalation in its import expenditures.

According to NOC, the new price list received from the Indian Oil Corporation on Thursday reveals corresponding increases from the supplier. Specifically, the Indian oil provider has raised the cost of petrol by Rs 3.17 per liter, diesel by Rs 2.48 per liter, and cooking gas by Rs 186.45 per cylinder.

Under the revised pricing structure, cooking gas is now priced at Rs 1,895 per cylinder, petrol stands at Rs 179.50 per liter, and diesel is priced at Rs 167.50 per liter.
