Sushil Pokharel secured International Hydropower Association’s board of directors

KATHMANDU: In a groundbreaking achievement, Sushil Pokharel, founder of Bizbell Private Limited, has secured a prestigious position on the board of the International Hydropower Association (IHA) for the 2023-25 term.

This historic moment marks the first instance of a Nepali national being elected to the world’s premier hydropower organization. Sushil Pokharel, renowned for his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to clean energy initiatives, will now represent 28 countries across South and Central Asia.

His election to the IHA Board serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable hydropower initiatives on a global scale.

The IHA, a non-profit membership association, serves as the leading global advocate for sustainable hydropower, working tirelessly to shape the future of clean energy worldwide.

Pokharel will officially assume his role on the Board at the 2023 World Hydropower Congress to be held in Bali, Indonesia. The selection process involved candidates from six distinct geographical regions, ultimately resulting in the election of a diverse and highly experienced group of hydropower experts.

Eddie Rich, the CEO of IHA, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Global climate change, the most pressing challenge of our time, cannot be effectively addressed without sustainable hydropower. Over the next decade, Central Asia and South Asia are poised to become one of the world’s fastest-growing regions for hydropower development.
