Subas Nembang, the chairman of the Constituent Assembly, passes away

KATHMANDU: Last night, Nepal’s political landscape was jolted by the sudden passing of Subash Nembang, who held the positions of Chairman of the Constituent Assembly and was a prominent member of the CPN-UML. He tragically succumbed to a heart attack at the age of 70.

According to family sources, Nembang suffered a severe heart attack at around 1:15 am while at his residence in Baluwatar. He was swiftly transported to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where doctors, regrettably, pronounced him deceased.

Subash Nembang held significant roles in Nepal’s political sphere, serving as the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly responsible for the promulgation of the country’s new constitution in 2015. Additionally, he had a distinguished career as a minister and Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).

In the aftermath of this unforeseen tragedy, family members, in consultation with CPN-UML Chairman Oli, are making arrangements to bring Nembang’s body to his residence. He leaves behind two sons and two daughters who are deeply grieving the loss of their beloved patriarch.

Several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, and UML Chairman K P Oli, among others, have already arrived at the TU Teaching Hospital to offer their condolences to the grieving family members and pay their final respects.

Meanwhile, President Ram Chandra Paudel has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. President Paudel conveyed his profound shock upon learning of the sudden demise of Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subash Nembang, on Monday night.
