NOC commits to free fuel for Jajarkot earthquake response

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has pledged to supply fuel for emergency flights in the wake of Friday night’s devastating earthquake in Jajarkot district at no charge.

Manoj Kumar Thakur, the spokesperson for NOC, confirmed that the corporation will cover the expenses related to petroleum products used in aerial rescue missions conducted by airplanes and helicopters.

He further explained that the state-owned oil monopoly will incorporate the cost of these rescue operations as part of its corporate social responsibility for the fiscal year 2023/24.

The earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 6.4, struck Jajarkot district at 11:47 PM on Friday, with its epicenter situated in Ramidanda. This seismic event tragically claimed the lives of over 150 individuals and left an equal number of people suffering from injuries.

NOC’s support in providing fuel for rescue efforts is a significant contribution to the ongoing relief and recovery operations in the region.
